  • Job Description:

    ​The Great Mountains Region is seeking a Business Support Specialist to assist with regional projects.  The position is responsible for retrieving data, creating and distributing various weekly, monthly and quarterly scheduled and ad hoc reports for managers using various databases and company operating systems.  Examines report data to ensure reliability and accuracy through proper documentation and cross-referencing of data sources.  Provides management with a summary of collected data identifying trends or discrepancies.  Additional duties include data entry, preparing communications for internal and external use, assists with Sales and Underwriting ad hoc projects.  The position will also coordinate travel plans and organize / schedule meetings, conferences, luncheons, agency reviews, and help with business promotions. 

    This is a part time position working 25 hours per week. 

  • Qualifications:

    ​Associate's Degree or 2 years related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Qualified candidates will possess general knowledge of commercial insurance policies and practices.   The successful candidate must be able to keep information confidential; effectively prioritize, organize and manage projects and assignments from multiple sources; respond professionally to customer inquiries; and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and with external customers.  Must possess strong customer orientation, accurate data entry skills; interpersonal and communication skills; and a commitment to company values.  Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office products and the ability to navigate on-line reference materials necessary.

  • Job Description:

    ​Continental Western Group (CWG) has an opening in the Des Moines Regional office for an Underwriting Manager.  This position is responsible for effectively managing an assigned Commercial Underwriting unit to support the company's business plan goals of profitability, managed growth and enhanced competitive advantage. 

    Directs Commercial Underwriting unit through delegation of authority to underwriting staff in accordance with established underwriting guidelines.  Interviews, hires, and onboards new employees.  Trains, coaches and develops talent within the underwriting unit to ensure a staff capable of carrying out underwriting initiatives.  Accountable for performance management including managing annual goal setting, conducting performance evaluations, developing career plans and providing specific constructive feedback through daily interaction with underwriting team as well as through the referral of accounts process. 

    Oversees and directs the team to ensure team/state business plan goals are met through file audits as well as through portfolio and agency management.  Travels underwriting territory on a regular basis to enhance agency relationships, promote profitability and growth of new business and the retention of existing business.

    Underwrites accounts exceeding authority level of underwriting staff.  Determines accurate classification of business, policy contract forms and pricing of risk.  Refers accounts exceeding regional authority to the Home Office Underwriting Department. 

    Provides input into the research, development, marketability and rate adequacy of new products and product enhancements within the region.

  • Qualifications:

    Education and/or Experience:
    * Bachelor's degree in insurance, finance or related field; a minimum of 10 years commercial lines underwriting experience; a minimum of 3 years' experience managing/supervising inside and field underwriters or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
    * Well rounded experience and an in-depth knowledge of Commercial insurance programs, policies, practices, coverages, forms and underwriting strategies
    * Advanced insurance education, e.g., INS, AU, CPCU, CIC

    * Ability to effectively build and lead a team comprised of in-house and field employees

  • Job Description:

    ​The Commercial Staff Underwriter will be responsible for providing technical underwriting leadership and assisting an assigned regional or business unit in achieving the Company's strategy, growth and profitability objectives.  Primary focus for this position will be Commercial Auto, including standard exposures, Transportation, and Fleet specialties.  The ideal candidate should demonstrate expertise in these areas.

    Duties include:
    *Providing guidance on technically complex referrals from regional underwriting operations including coverage design and reinsurance.  Managing facultative reinsurance placements.
    *Analyzing competitive market intelligence to identify trends and providing guidance to assigned unit regarding these trends.  Is also responsible for providing guidance regarding the unit's performance, financial results, profitability, business mix and competition. 
    *Establishing Auto-specific value propositions and product offering through review of competitor information
    *Utilizing Data Analytics to establish performance metrics for portfolio management and individual account review
    *Establishment of Underwriting best-practices.  Includes the developing and delivering training materials, performing underwriting audits, and participating in varied Staff Underwriting project work

  • Qualifications:

    Education and Experience:
    *Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 10 years' experience in Commercial Lines Auto Underwriting standard or specialty lines, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  CPCU desired.  Previous leadership experience is a plus.

  • Job Description:

    ​Continental Western Group (CWG) has an opening for a highly service oriented individual to assist agencies and insureds with account inquiries as well as to perform billing, account maintenance and accounts receivable functions. 

    Specific duties include, but not limited to:

    • Answers account inquiries via phone or email from agents or direct-bill insureds in a prompt and professional manner.
    • Performs account maintenance including processing pay plan changes; adjusting payment installments; monitoring requests submitted through various systems; assessing payment delinquencies, etc.
    • Performs accounts receivable functions, e.g., posting in-house and external cash payments; preparing bank statement, processing on-line electronic payments, daily balancing, reconciliation of system to system transaction, etc.
    • Performs system testing

     

     

  • Qualifications:

    ​The qualified candidate will have experience providing exceptional phone customer service and the ability to project a positive, professional image.  Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment is essential.   Must also possess proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook and have above average entry skills using both a PC and calculator. 

    Accounts receivable experience and/or accounting background helpful.
