    Job Description:

      • Specializes in adjusting moderate to high severity and/or complexity commercial bodily injury and property damage claims.
      • Conducts timely and thorough investigations into coverage, liability, and damages.
      • Negotiates settlements with claimants and claimant attorneys.
      • Participates in mediations.
      • Retains outside experts, including but not limited to accident reconstructionists, biomechanical engineers, life care planners, forensic accountants, agronomists, and structural engineers.
      • Communicates and collaborates with coverage counsel to obtain coverage opinions.
      • Collaborates with corporate subrogation department in an effort to maximize recoveries.
      • Other duties, as assigned. 
  • Qualifications:

    Education and Experience:

      • Bachelor's degree; 3 or more years of casualty claims adjusting experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
      • Professional designation of CPCU, SCLA, and/or AIC preferred. 

    Skills and Abilities:

      • Strong customer orientation and highly effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
      • Strong conflict-resolution and negotiation skills.
      • Understanding of commercial insurance coverages and their application.
      • In-depth knowledge of medical terminology and common medical procedures.
      • Proven problem analysis and problem resolution skills.
      • Proficiency with a PC, familiarity with claims systems, strong familiarity with MS Word and Excel, and ability to type 40 or more WPM.  

    Other Requirements:

      • Valid credit and/or background check.
      • Valid drivers' license and safe driving record.

  • Job Description:

    Continental Western Group is currently seeking an experienced commercial lines underwriting assistant to work in our Denver office. 

    The candidate selected will support assigned Underwriters by reviewing incoming correspondence and applications to determine proper procedural action.  Examines information provided in the application and related resources to determine if risk meets established eligibility guidelines. Consults agent or obtains reports for Underwriters when additional information is necessary.  Routes risk-involved matters that are beyond assigned authority level to Underwriter for evaluation. Maintains established department service and quality standards. 

    Prepares quotes or accepts and prices new commercial property/casualty accounts that meet established risk selection criteria and are within the Underwriting Assistant's assigned authority level.  

    Evaluates renewal commercial property/casualty accounts and endorsements, within authority level, by reviewing updated account information, claims experience, loss control surveys, risk acceptability and pricing.  Consults agent for additional information when necessary.  Within authority, determines if account will be renewed or cancelled.   

    Develops and maintains professional, productive working relationships with agency force to encourage profitability, growth and good understanding of our Company's pricing and risk selection philosophy.  Assists agents with questions regarding accounts and billing.

    Education and/or Experience:
    * Associates Degree from college or technical school; or two years related work experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Commercial rating experience desired.

  • Job Description:

    ​Continental Western Group (CWG) has an opportunity for an experienced Risk Services professional to manage a dynamic middle market book of business in the tri-state area of Chicago, northwest Indiana and Michigan.

    Responsibilities will include: 

    • Assessing business operations to identify loss exposures
    • Consulting with policyholders and underwriting to determine hazards, level of exposures and controls
    • Create technical risk reports for underwriting to be utilized in the underwriting/risk selection process
    • Partnering  with accounts and agents to improve customers' understanding of risk and methods of reducing risk

    Ideally, the person selected will live in the Chicagoland area. 

  • Qualifications:

    ​Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in occupational/industrial safety, engineering or fire protection
    • 3-5 years of progressive multi-line insurance loss control experience
    • Advanced education desired, i.e. ASP, CSP, CFPS or ARM designation 

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

    • Highly effective communication skills including presentation skills
    • Strong customer orientation and interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively interact with policyholders, underwriting, claims, agents, vendors and etc.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of property, business auto, liability and workers' comp exposures and controls.  This includes knowledge of regulatory compliance standards associated with OSHA, NFPA, DOT, etc.

      • Provides technical advice, direction, and mentoring to the Claims Department staff on high severity and/or complex commercial casualty claims.

  • Qualifications:

     Education and Experience:

      • Bachelor's degree and 5 years commercial casualty claims adjusting experience; or 10 years commercial casualty claims experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
      • Professional designation of CPCU, SCLA and/or AIC preferred.

    The successful candidate will work with selected independent agents to enhance and build strong business relationships to promote profitable growth of new commercial business and the retention of existing business.  Our focus is providing exceptional customer service, including responsiveness and quality decision making.

    • Contributing to the success of the Region by assisting the Business Development Manager in building and enhancing strong business relationships with new and existing independent agencies.
